Operation Hope
The Jewish Renaissance Foundation is offering a year-round program of activities to out-of-school youth who are between 16 and 21 years of age. It is our intent to respond to the needs of youth who have missed the opportunity of completing their academic requirements for a secondary education. This program will focus on the school dropout or those who have either graduated from high school or who hold a GED but are deficient in basic literary skills. The program will provide academic and workplace skills training to Perth Amboy residents. Compensation is provided.

The program has four primary goals:

  • EDUCATION
    • High School Diploma
    • GED (State Diploma)
    • ESL (English as a Second Language)
    • Basic Skills Remediation
    • Computer Technology
  • WORK/JOB EXPERIENCE
  • LEADERSHIP
  • SUPPORT SERVICES

Operation Hope will focus on the following goals to achieve participant's success:

  • Basic Skills Attainment
  • Work Readiness
  • Occupational skills Training
  • Military Service
  • Employment (unsubsidized)
  • Post Secondary Education

The program design elements consist of the following:

  • Tutoring, study skills training and instruction, computer technology
  • Summer employment directly linked to academic and occupational learning
  • Paid and unpaid work experience, including internship and job shadowing
  • Occupational skills training
  • Leadership development
  • Supportive services
  • Comprehensive guidance and counseling
