Operation Lifeline USA |

The Jewish Renaissance Foundation (JRF), a non-profit, non-sectarian, humanitarian organization, has
responded to the well-documented need for access to health care for thousands of households in Middlesex
County (Perth Amboy) by designing an innovative healthcare program called Operation Lifeline USA.
This medical program provides access to health and dental care with special emphasis on households with income
just above the poverty level, but too high to qualify for federal and state assisted programs.
The "working poor," senior citizens and immigrants are often forced to make difficult choices between paying
for housing, utilities, food, clothing or health care. They have "fallen between the cracks" of the healthcare
delivery system.

Operation Lifeline, USA "Medical Safety Net" includes
- A network of volunteer physicians
- A network of volunteer dentists
- Pharmaceutical companies that provide in-kind services
- Hospitals that provide in-kind services
- Eyeglasses provided as an in-kind service
This is all accomplished on a case by case basis.

Additionally, the JRF has
- Formed an interfaith coalition for healthcare
- Established the Perth Amboy Health and Human Services Consortium
- Provided community Health Fairs which are "Culturally competent"
- Established an 800 number (800-954-3080) to provide easy access to our Medical Information Center
- Provided fee medical assistance to 7,000 patients in the past twelve months!

The JRF was selected by the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Region 2 Field Office as one of
ten agencies throughout the United States to conduct a "Social Reconnaissance," whose purpose is to increase access
to primary and preventive health and dental care, and to decrease disparities due to race, socio-economic factors and
ethnicity in Perth Amboy and its neighboring communities.
The JRF hosted HRSA and the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) to collaborate on the national vision of "100%
access to health care with 0% disparities."
